"Recently I faced the formidable task of obtaining life insurance at 63 years old, when my present term life insurance policy was due to expire. What made this endeavor so difficult was not just my age factor, but also trying to sort through confusing information (and proposals) on what was available to me, what I could afford, and most importantly, what would really protect my family in terms of final life expenses. To me, a good insurance agent listens first, and then sells by a need-fulfillment approach, not by low price or with numerous shotgun types of proposals that give a customer a case of information overload without answering and getting to the bottom of the true question: What will protect my family until and at the moment my life ends?
